Based on Belfast’s Lisburn Road, Maven champions the very best of design from both established and emerging homeware brands.

Run by sisters Catherine and Patricia, Maven sells some of the most coveted brands in the world. Names such as Hay, Muuto, L.Ercolani and &Tradition sit alongside Irish designer-makers such as Annadale Brickworks and Mourne Textiles.

The shop has made a name for itself as a serious design destination winning ‘Independent Retailer of the Year’ at the Image Interiors and Living Awards in 2019 as well as being shortlisted twice in the Irish Times ‘Best Shops in Ireland’ Awards. Most recently, Maven was selected as ‘One of the Thirty Best Online Homeware Shops’ by the Sunday Times in 2022.

2023 has seen Maven move to a bigger, high-profile premises on the Lisburn Road and expansion of the team.

We are currently recruiting:
  • Assistant Shop Manager

    We are recruiting for an Assistant Manager to join our team, who will assist us with achieving our aim of delivering a high level of sales and extraordinary customer service to ensure that every customer leaves our store happy, having had a positive Maven experience.
     
    The Assistant Manager will play a key role in supporting the Operations Manager with the day to day running of the store and team management, as well as providing an extremely high level of customer service. This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic self-starter, who enjoys selling high-end products and providing a fully supportive and knowledgeable customer experience.

    Normal working days will be Monday to Sunday. You will be expected to cover shifts during these operating times.
     
    40 hours per week over 5 days. 
     
    ABOUT YOU
    You will have two to three years retail experience, preferably gained within a similar customer-focused/sales environment. You with be enthusiastic, pro-active and thrive using your own initiative. You will be able to maintain the highest levels of customer service and professional standards, both in personal presentation and interpersonal communication.
     
    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    ·       Pro-actively liaising with and reporting to the Operations Manager to supervise and lead the team on the shop floor. Supervising the management and movement of stock and helping to drive operational excellence
    ·       Liaising with the head office team and Operations Manager daily. Communication to include updates regarding in store activity and customer experiences
    ·       Actively demonstrate and drive high levels of customer service whilst upholding brand values in behaviour and communication
    ·       Assisting customers with all aspects of sales, including management of customer orders, preparation of quotes, ordering samples and organising customer deliveries
    ·       Processing stock deliveries, adding stock to our EPOS system and dealing with any claims should they arise. Ensure that merchandise is priced, and the sales floor is replenished
    ·       Actively monitor stock levels and report regularly to the Operations Manager and buying team
    ·       Ensure the shop floor is visually merchandised to the highest standards and in keeping with brand identity and visual communications
    ·       Keep back office and stock areas clean and organised
    ·       Assisting with ecommerce sales, to include packaging and shipping when necessary
    ·       Liaising with delivery teams and attending externally based warehouse when required
    ·       Management  with quarterly stock takes
    ·       Oversee cash management and till reconciliation whilst opening and closing store
    ·       Creating a fun, uplifting and energised environment to help build and maintain team morale
     
    PERSON SPECIFICATION
    Essential:
    ·       2-3 years retail experience within a similar customer focused sales environment
    ·       Excellent interpersonal communication and organisational skills. A confident communicator, both verbally and written with a pro-active approach
    ·       Ability to multi-task and act on own initiative
    ·       A team player, strong ability to lead and inspire others, including colleagues and customers
    ·       Reliable and open to the flexible nature of retail opening hours
    ·       Knowledge of and experience using MS Word, Excel & Outlook and a CMS system
    ·       Full driving license
     
    Desirable:
    ·       Senior sales or Assistant Manager experience

  • Sales Assistant

    We are looking for a self-motivated Sales Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis. This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic self-starter who wants to be part of a growing company.

    The right person will help to boost sales by assisting customers with an extremely high level of service, engaging with them and offering appropriate help and advice and selling Maven products in a confident, knowledgeable way.

    Most importantly, our team strive to deliver extraordinary customer service, on a daily basis, to ensure that each and every customer leaves satisfied and has enjoyed a positive Maven experience.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Take care of our customers and assist with product queries and offer advice where appropriate
    • Actively demonstrate and drive high levels of customer service whilst upholding brand values in behaviour and communication
    • Assisting with in-store customer orders
    • Assisting with deliveries and updating inventory
    • Assisting with ecommerce sales, to include packaging and shipping when necessary
    • Upholding and initiating store merchandising and cleanliness standards
    • Ensuring that merchandise is priced, and that shop floor is well stocked
    • Keeping back office and stock areas clean and organised

    PERSON SPECIFICATION

    • At least 1-2 years retail experience
    • Excellent customer service and sales skills
    • Flexible approach to work and the ability to multi-task and act on own initiative
    • Practical & self-motivated
    • Excellent organisational skills
    • Excellent email and phone etiquette
    • Reliable and friendly
    • Familiarity with current design and interior trends
    • Computer literate with knowledge of MS Office & CMS
    • Flexibility to take on extra shifts to cover holiday leave etc.
