To celebrate International Women's Day 2019, we'd like to introduce the incredible woman behind designs & colour for brands including Hay, Muuto & Kvadrat. Margrethe Odgaard is an award winning & globally renowned textile designer from Denmark, famously recognised for her use of colour & pattern. She graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts & worked for some time in Philadelphia & Paris before returning to Denmark to set up her design studio in Copenhagen in 2013. Margrethe created her own colour chart called the 'Popsicle Index' in order to create colours that immediately appeal to the senses & inspire creativity. Margrethe's design philosophy is to have "simplicity as a clarified vision, & make the process as important as the outcome" - this attention to detail & passion for the process is perhaps why she is favoured by Muuto as a designer for some of their key pieces, including both the 'Ply' & 'Pebble' rug. Margrethe will release two books this year based on her love of colour & Nordic design - definitely a woman to watch. The Pebble & Ply rugs, as well as smaller textiles designed by Margrethe are available at Maven now.
