Making in batches using handmade tools, Clive enjoys the rhythm of throwing, glazing and firing.
He throws most of his pots on the wheel using a simple stoneware clay, after which the pots are dried slowly, bases turned, handles attached and finished before firing. Then the pots are fired twice, glaze fired in a gas kiln at stoneware temperatures. Prior to setting up Annadale Brickworks in Belfast, Clive resided in both Ireland and Finland for 30 odd years, teaching and making ceramics. He considers ceramic making a way of life that has allowed him to work and travel cohesively, drawing inspiration along the way in the likes of Japan, Egypt, Iran and Spain.
We are delighted to now stock a range of Annadale Brickworks’ mugs, bowls and dishes in store only. Pop in Tuesday - Saturday 10:00 - 17:00 to check out the full collection.
