What’s your name and what do you do?
My name is Sarah and I am the shop manager at Maven.
Who lives in your home?
I live with my boyfriend, Daniel and our very mischievous tabby cat, Gus.
How would you describe your home?
Slightly chaotic but still homely. We live in a small terrace house in East Belfast so we are short on space and everything is crammed in (bicycles, horrible cat toys, etc ) but we try to make the most of it.
What have you enjoyed about your home during the lockdown?
A bit of a cliché, but it really has become a true safe haven. Home has always been somewhere for me that you can relax and shut yourself off from whatever is going on in the world but now more than ever it is living up to that for me and it really is where I feel the most safe.
Is there a DIY job you’ve got round to that you’re proud of?
Not necessarily a DIY job but I did tackle our back bedroom which sort of serves as a walk in wardrobe. It's a job I put off for so long due to the amount of reorganisation required but I did it (over 3 days) and I have sworn to myself I will never let it get that messy again.
If you could change anything about your home, what would it be?
A garden! My parent’s have the most beautiful garden and when I’m speaking to my mum on the phone she’s usually pottering about it or my dad is in his shed fixing something and it’s just the dream really!
What’s the most recent thing you’ve bought for your home?
I bought a lovely little Aloe from Coffee x Cactus just before we left the shop and I’m pleased to say it’s still doing well given my track record with plants.
What’s been your go to meal in the last few weeks?
Pasta. Loads of pasta, it’s just comfort in a bowl. We’re particularly fond of a simple and delicious mushroom orzo dish.
Is there anything you’ve started to do during lockdown that you’d like to continue as ’normality’ resumes?
Making the most of time outside, whether that’s for a run or just to walk, a game changer for head space. I also have become quite the fan of baths (disclaimer -I showered daily prior to lockdown) now that I have more time to take them, it’s nice just to relax with a good book and soak for a while!
